The New National Entitlement Card For Young People

PASS Hologram

Young people from across Falkirk are being urged to claim their new National Entitlement and Concessionary Travel Card.

The new Concessionary Travel card, which is for young people aged from 16 years to 18 years old (valid up until 19th birthday)  and for people in full time volunteer work, entitles them to reduced travel costs.

If you are 16, 17 or 18 then you are entitled to:

  • Up to 50% off adult single fares on buses all over Scotland
  • A free Scottish Youth Railcard, cutting up to 50% off train fares
  • Two free return ferry journeys to the mainland if you live on an island

The National Entitlement card has already been promoted in Forth Valley College and direct to Young Scot card holders.

The National Entitlement Card will continue to give all the benefits of the Young Scot card.

The NE card will combine all of Falkirk Council's Young Scot card features: Proof of Age, Discounts, Leisure card and library card and because it is an electronic card, it will be easy to add more services in the future.

Falkirk Young Scot will be processing all application forms from their town centre office. The form will then be sent to a national processing centre electronically, which will send the new card direct to the cardholder or direct to school during term time (Falkirk Council Schools only).

People with the Young Scot card should bring along their card to register for the new Entitlement Card as this will act as one form of photographic ID.  However, along with young people who don't have a Young Scot Card you will need to bring documents that will prove your age and address.

Forms of identification:

  • passport
  • driving license (provisional included)
  • Young Scot Pass Card
  • bank statement

If you are currently volunteering we will require evidence from the organisation you are volunteering with such as a letter of confirmation.

If you have queries or seeking further information please contact the Young Scot office.
